I am a Maybelline lipstick fanatic! I have way more Maybelline lip products than any other brand! So, when I heard they were bringing out a new range I was very excited! I have had many requests to do swatches and reviews of them. So, I have done my very first ‘lip close up’/swatches post. Eek!
I said this on Facebook and Instagram, but I am going to say it again. I have a new appreciation for Bloggers and YouTubers that do lip swatch videos and photos, as my lips were a little red and sensitive after putting on and taken off seven lipsticks one after another!
The Rebel Bloom range bring bold pastels. Pinks, purples and reds that are full with pigmentation and taking boring pastels to a new bright!
My favourite part of all the lipsticks in the Rebel Bloom range is the texture. Creamy honey nectar makes these lipsticks glide on with ease and feel silky on the lips. They are glossy without being sticky. Let’s be honest, no one likes getting their hair stuck to their lips!!
So without further ado here are the lipsticks, and my thoughts on them!
Rebel Bloom Lipstick Range
Blushing Bud is a gorgeous pinky nude shade that is perfect for everyday wear! This is one of my top three out of the seven I have.
The pigmentation is good, not great but good. They all have a nice glossy finish which I love!
Petal Pink is my lest favourite out of the collection. The pigmentation of this shade is not great. It took many layers to build this up.
I am not normally a baby pink type of girl so maybe I’m not use to this type of shade? What do you think?
While Hibiscus Pop is a little better in the pigmentation department it is still not one of Maybelline’s bests shades.
I am a sucker for coral lip colours. This is like a cross between a light pink and coral. If the pigmentation of this shade was better I think I would be obsessed!
I love this shade!
Power Peony is a gorgeous light pinky purple colour. It’s a perfect shade if you’re wanting to start venturing out of traditional pinky and red colours.
This shade has better pigmentation than the last two. I don’t know if that is because it is a slightly darker shade?
Either way I really enjoy it!
Look at this shade!
Orchard Ecstasy is my favourite purple shade lipstick that I have tried to date!
The pigmentation of this shade is a lot better than the lighter colours! It still takes a few layers to get full coverage but the end result is a lot more opaque.
Rose Rush is my favourite shade!!
I am not normally a red lip fan. I am normally more into bright pinks and corals. I think it might be the gloss finish of these lip colours that makes me love this red!
Again, the pigmentation of this colour is like the Orchard Ecstasy. It takes a couple of layers to get this coverage but the end result is gorgeous!
Last but not least, Coral Burst!
This is also in my top three favourites. Obviously because it is coral! Also it’s the perfect shade for spring!
The glossy finish of these lipstick means they are not super long lasting or anything crazy. They do however, last a good few hours on the lips and wear evenly which is a bonus in my books!
The packaging is Maybelline’s standard square lid and silver barrel. What is different about this range is the lids are all a soft pinky/purple colour rather than different colours for different shades.
While I like the packaging it does make it difficult to easily distinguish between the shades, without looking at the bottom or opening them. It can be a pain when you have a few in the bottom of your bag! Which is me 90% of the time.
Over all I really enjoy this lipstick range from Maybelline. There are three other shades that I would love to get my hands on! What is your favourite colour from above?
Have you tried the Rebel Bloom lipstick range? What were your thoughts?
